The Story Behind the Ceysaga Logo: A Symbol of Sri Lankan Heritage

We wanted a logo for our brand, for our community. Not a generic icon. Something real. Tangible. Something that could speak about who we are, our culture, our heritage.

Finding the right designer was the first step. Naveen B. joined the team, someone who truly understands Sri Lankan traditional art. Together, we shared the brand’s vision, purpose, and direction. He returned with designs inspired by traditional symbols.

We looked at the designs together and felt… something was missing. Each one was thoughtful, carefully made, but it didn’t yet feel like us. We listened as Naveen explained the origins, and it added meaning, but it still didn’t hit the mark. So we paused and went back to the drawing board together.

Then, we discovered it. An ancient Ceylonese coin, over 2,000 years old. The craftsmanship, literacy, technology, and symbolism embedded in it were astounding. This coin wasn’t just an object. It was proof of who we are. If we wanted the world to understand Sri Lankan culture through our brand, this symbol could do it.

We studied the coin, learning everything we could. And then it clicked. The elephant, carved into the coin, carried so much meaning. Every part tells a story about Sri Lankan identity, values, and spirit:

  • Head – Control of the senses

  • Trunk – Confidence in the truth

  • Tusks – Balance and calm

  • Legs – Non-violence and discipline

  • Neck – Mindfulness

  • Tail – Relaxation and peace

  • Stomach – The Doctrine

From there, the logo was born. We created two versions:

  1. The elephant logo – clean, strong, and modern. It represents pride, power, and Sri Lankan identity.

  2. The coin shaped logo – dented and textured, honoring the brilliance of ancient Ceylon. Over 2,000 years ago, Ceylonese were advanced in technology, administration, and art. The coin reflects their skill, organization, and rich cultural heritage.

The Ceysaga's logo is a story of Sri Lanka, a symbol of pride, and a way to share Ceylonese heritage with the world. Every curve, every detail, every choice in the design carries meaning.
